Paul Anthony Melhado is a Jamaican born artist of Portuguese decent. He studied photography, painting and print making at Long Island University, Queens College and the Art Student’s League, respectively and received an MFA in photography from LIU in 2003.
Paul Anthony works primarily with large format view cameras that produce negatives ranging in size from 4X5, to 12X 20 inches. In describing his creative intent Paul states; "As an artist I strive to produce work that is deeply personal and visually engaging. My work raises questions about what it means to be human, to exist in contemporary society". Paul Anthony’s work has been included in dozens of group shows and solo exhibitions, he has also been the recipient of four fellowship awards since 2003, including a recent grant from Queens and New York City council for the arts. Currently Paul Anthony is a teaching faculty at Long Island University and is working on a book featuring his landscape work of the past decade.

Portfolios:
The following portfolios, each containing 25-100 images, are available for exhibition and purchase: Queens County Parks: 1996-2001, How We Use Land: 2002-2005, Difficulties of Being: 1994-2006. All processing and printing of these photographs is completed by the artist, using traditional silver based materials. Images are printed on Ilford Gallery Matt paper, Oriental gloss and Zone VI bromide enlarging paper, other specialty papers such as AZO (a silver chloride contact paper) are occasionally used by the artist. His works are produced in very limited editions, one of a kind to 25 prints per negative. Prints are priced individually, according to size and edition, or sold as portfolio set. Prices for individual prints range from $150 to $700 and may be purchased through this website.
